Political meetings

The intermunicipal cooperation in Hallingdal has formally existed since 1952.

The Region Council for Hallingdal, consisting of the six mayors of the region, meets monthly (except in July) to discuss regional matters. The Municipal Director and Chief Executive Committee, along with representatives from the Region Council's administration and Buskerud County Municipality, also have the right to attend, speak, and propose at Region Council meetings.

Hallingtinget, the highest governing body of the Region Council for Hallingdal, meets twice a year. Hallingtinget consists of five municipal council members from each municipality, where one is the mayor, and the remaining four are members of the executive committee or leaders of main committees/sector committees. Additionally, the municipal directors and chief executives have the right to attend, speak, and propose.

Hallingdal Youth Council was established in 2009 and consists of two representatives from each municipality. The council meets approximately six times a year and addresses important issues related to youth in Hallingdal.
